LEGAL AID LINE
Applying for legal help begins with Legal Aid Line.
Legal Aid Line provides FREE legal information, advice, and referrals to eligible, low-income residents of northwest and west central Ohio. All applicants must meet income guidelines to receive services. Spanish speaking staff are available to assist you. Interpreters are available for non-English or Spanish-speaking people.
Assistance for the hearing and visually impaired is also available. American Sign Language and other language interpreters are available by appointment. Client services are provided by telephone or by mail. If ongoing legal representation is needed, eligible applicants may be referred to another legal services office or to a volunteer attorney program.

Criminal Legal Problems
You must have a civil legal problem. Our attorneys and advocates cannot help with criminal problems, including traffic tickets. If you are unsure if you have a civil or criminal problem, call anyway.
Legal Aid Line of Western Ohio, Inc., Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. and Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. do not charge for services. If Legal Aid Line, ABLE, or LAWO cannot help you with your problem, we will refer you to an agency that may be more suited to your needs. If you have a problem that is not listed on our services page, please call us anyway; we may have a service that can help you or know of just the right program or private attorney that may be able to assist with your problem.
Access to Services
LAWO and ABLE services are fully accessible. The law firms will make reasonable modifications to program policies and procedures to enable people with disabilities to participate in and benefit from our services. If you require a modification, please ask the receptionist.
