Senior Accountant – Job Announcement

Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), a non-profit law firm that provides free, high quality legal assistance to people with low incomes in western Ohio, seeks a Senior Accountant to provide accounting and financial services for ABLE and its partner Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO).

The position will report to the Director of Finance and will be located in ABLE’s Toledo office.

 

The Senior Accountant will:

Work closely with the Director of Finance to prepare the annual operating budget for ABLE and LAWO. The position will be responsible for participating in the monthly financial close process and preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and other reports. Additional duties include preparation and adherence to Accounting Manuals and Fiscal Policies and Procedures, including but not limited to areas such as revenue recognition, allocation of expenses, purchasing, fixed assets, and other. Other duties include preparation and review of audit workpapers and schedules, oversight and maintenance of the existing accounting software and implementation of new software, as desired. Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Experience and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with an accounting emphasis, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years accounting experience with an organization that has a substantial budget.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook required.
• Working knowledge of MIP preferred.
• Able to work independently on assigned projects.
• Must be able to exercise sound judgment and initiative and adhere to the confidential nature of the firms and their practices.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills and have the capacity to meet deadlines in a multi-function office environment.
