MEDICAID WAIVERS EXPLAINED

CHLOE'S STORY      Watch Chloe's Story here.

Navigating the Medicaid waiver system can be complicated and frustrating. But these waivers provide vital support to help individuals with disabilities maintain independence and dignity. You have rights. If you want to understand your rights under the Medicaid waiver system and learn how to get the services you or your loved one needs, who better to explain the process than somebody who has lived through it? In this video, Chloe and her parents answer questions like: What is the Medicaid waiver? Why is the Medicaid waiver important? What is the process of applying for a Medicaid waiver? What is it like to be represented by a lawyer?

“Accessing Medicaid waivers for children under 18 can be particularly challenging. The Department of Developmental Disabilities may tell you that you have a responsibility to take care of your children and you may be afraid to ask for help. If you have had difficulty getting the help you need for your minor child, please tune in to these videos to hear Eve and Charity, mothers of children with developmental disabilities, share their stories. You will hear about the difficulty they encountered throughout the process and how they were ultimately able to get the help they needed for their children.
